This role is onsite at our Buda, TX location.
What the Role Is
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising all traffic functions relating to freight movement in and out of the facility. This position will manage the warehouse team, maintain a safe workplace, fulfill customer orders, and support inquiries about products. The Warehouse Manager will also develop and maintain an effective and cost-efficient transportation system which includes the planning, direction and coordination of resources and activities as related to the movement of goods.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- Lead and supervise the activities of employees engaged in receiving, storing, and shipping products or materials
- Direct, schedule and supervise the scheduling of inbound/outbound shipments to ensure most economical utilization of carriers based on service parameters; interface with the operations team to resolve any problems associated with scheduling and dispatching; recommend programs that improve the transportation function
- Manage the defined carrier that is providing services to the facility including meeting with local carrier representatives to discuss base transportation related issues, monitoring carrier performance, and reviewing current practice versus potential improvements by changing carrier mode or mix
- Responsible for production planning and scheduling
- Coordinate the VAPS program which is seasonal but requires coordination of approximately 30 additional temporary employees for a 5-month period
- Develop and implement warehouse safety and security programs and coordinate related activities
- Issue shipping instructions and provide routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated
- Confer with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities including production, processing, sales, finance/accounting and purchasing
- Record shipment data, including weight, charges, space availability, damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting and recordkeeping purposes. Reconcile damages/shortages for control states
- Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and utilize information to assign work tasks
- Responsible for managing raw material and finished goods inventory for the plant. Includes regular cycle counts of all materials as well as conducting full physical inventory at the end of the calendar year
- Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets or equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs or replacements
- Schedule or monitor surface pickup, delivery or distribution of products or materials
- Conduct physical inventory on all trailers
- Schedule and approve all dock maintenance, including shipping and empty glass
- Procure shipping supplies including stretch film, air bags, ad room supplies, log books, trip reports, etc.
- Communicate effectively with employees, customers and carriers in person, via email or phone to accomplish necessary objectives
- Negotiate and manage costs associated with transportation, fuel charges, overtime etc.
- Maintain and replace forklifts and material handling equipment as needed
- Coordinate the filling and shipping of product samples for the Sales and Marketing Teams
- Utilize company resources and capabilities to ensure organizational goals and objectives are achieved
- Work closely with Brands Inventory Manager to ensure accurate inventory process including cycle counting processes and physical inventory processes

Who You Are…
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business or related field
- Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory/management role in a manufacturing or distribution environment; may substitute equivalent years of work related experience
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
- Ability to lead and coordinate the work activities of others
- Strong people leadership skills in developing and building teams
- Monitoring and controlling resources
- Excellent computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and IFS
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills…using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems, as well as analysis and synthesis from multiple data sources
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
- Advanced computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and IFS
- Previous experience in the distilled spirits industry
- APICS Certification
Physical Requirements
While performing duties of job, employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
