What the Role Is

The Controller provides advice to the executive team as to both current and future financial operations. The position leads the accounting team to deliver timely and accurate data to the business and other stakeholders, which is necessary to enhance the data-informed decision-making process for Heaven Hill

How You Will Spend Your Time?

Setting the vision and strategy for accounting team

Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS

Leading, coaching, training, and developing accounting department

  • Ensuring proper allocation of resources
  • Building cross-functional collaboration
  • Fostering ownership of processes throughout the organization

Overseeing preparation and review of monthly financial statements for all individual companies and currencies, while also reviewing the global consolidated statements

  • Ensuring proper presentation of stand-alone and consolidated company financial statements
  • Determining that all account reconciliations are performed timely and review for accuracy

Partnering with FP&A and other departments to analyze drivers of results

Overseeing preparation of monthly and ad hoc reporting

  • Ensuring reporting systems accumulate, aggregate, and present data correctly
  • Partnering with IT and FP&A to document and validate allocations of expenses within ERP and reporting systems
  • Confirming monthly reconciliation of data sources to drive “one source of the truth”

Identifying process improvements and lead process for change – challenge the status quo

  • Leading change towards digitization of paper records
  • Evaluating usage of technology (ML, AI, bots, etc) to automate and streamline process

Preparing quarterly fluctuation analysis and MD&A

Overseeing annual financial statement audit

Leading evaluation and implementation of projects for new accounting guidance

Setting clear guidelines for reporting timing for all subsidiaries and corporate reporting

Preparing technical accounting memos on complex or unique accounting transactions

Preparing purchase accounting allocations, as needed

Overseeing documentation of and ensure compliance with key accounting process, policy, and procedure

Setting risk management strategy

Leading corporate financial risk assessment

Managing relationship with insurance broker(s)

Evaluating adequacy of insurance coverages and risk mitigation strategy

Preparing statements of value and analyze coverage amounts

Who You Are…

You have a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and 10+ years’ experience managing an accounting function for a multi-national or global entity

Analytical with strong communication skills

Ability to lead cross functionality

Experience and understanding of GAAP and IFRS

Strategic thinker with focus given to drive forward process improvement and positive change

A strong team leader
