Position Summary: The Bartender for the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience will provide an exceptional customer experience, ensuring the customer’s needs are met. Other responsibilities will include development of bar offerings and maintenance of a sanitary bar area. This role is a part-time position working 3 weekends a month (Friday/Saturday/Sunday), primarily daytime hours.
Role Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant bartending experience
- At least 21 years of age
- Basic knowledge of computer systems and technology, including cash registers, point-of-sale systems, scanners, etc.
- STAR Certified or willingness to attain STAR Certification within 90 days
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Proven experience in bar menu item creation
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide quality guest experience and connect with visitors through educations and bar menu selections.
- Maximize sales, help drive profits, manage labor and control costs for the NQ2 bar area.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all Heaven Hill Brand products, most up to date mixology options, garnishes for drinks, all bar menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, portion sizes, presentation and price.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Brand Team in the development and implementation of the plans for the NQ2 Bar area.
- Ensure all policies, procedures and practices are within local code.
- Maintain highest health standards, sanitation and cleanliness in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state and government guidelines.
- Coordination with GM or OM for any on-the-job training on a regular basis.
- Develop bar offerings, such as cocktails, flights of Bourbon and snacks.
- Develop and maintain effective communication between all management.
- Maintain positive guest/customer relations at all times.
- Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
- Establish good working relationship with distributors.
- Knowledge of product ordering protocol.
- Establish par levels for supplies necessary for bar operations. Complete requisitions to replenish stock or additional items needed for anticipated business.
- Maintain per drink/beverage cost to maintain the highest level of profit margins.
- Ensure bar is secure when not open for business.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to talk to others to convey information effectively
- Service Orientation – actively looking for ways to help people
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work in a team and be a self-starter
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous work experience in the distilled spirits industry.
- Familiarity with bourbon knowledge and language.
- Previous work experience in a visitor center, tourist attraction or retail gift shop.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.
